THE SUM OF

THE SOME OF US

WHO ARE YOU?

From beyond the camera lens, there is a powerful experience waiting for you a “reawakening” if you will…

Have you ever wondered who you really are? The true origin of your family’s lineage? Whether you have a past that might contradict your present? Or how your cultural and culinary traditions that have been passed down for generations have shaped you into the person you are today?

Beyond your block, neighborhood, country—and even within your genetic code—there is a fascinating story.

ABOUT THE PHOTO SERIES

The photo series is called the “The Some of the Some of Us." In this photo documentary series I explore the notion of race and ethnic diversity in America. I am incorporating in-depth interviews and DNA analysis to explore our rich genetic and ethnic heritage.

The art of photography is timeless. It has the ability to suspend time and create an intimate and profound interaction between the subject and the viewer. It is in that very moment that we can embrace the human experience that we all share.

All humans share the need for love, safety, and the need for self-determination. It is my hope that by sharing others’ stories and showing the many facets of ethnic diversity that we can begin to see our commonalities.

By creating a customized photographic experience based on our research discovers forces the subject to see themselves through the eyes of there ancestors who may be different from the family stories. The process strips them away for there day to day views and places them in a undiscovered land connecting there past to there present. And brings there stories and DNA results to life and capturing these moments in a series of photographs.
